Wow! I have been hearing some wild stuff! I thought I would share:

One gossip board says, " The Martin's could afford to leave on vacation because they never fed or cared for their horses!"
Well. I said "vacation" to the news folks to try to save face. The reality is, we came to Arkansas to visit family and try to figure out a way to start our lives over again. Our house in Colorado is in forclosure, the winter has made it near impossible to live there, and we are broke! Mostly though, with the horses gone it is painful to stay.

"Carol Martin has started a new horse rescue in Arkansas and she needs to be stopped."
I haven't started a rescue and I NEVER will. I helped out an old man here that had adopted 3 mustangs and was afraid of them. A mutual friend suggested that I help him out because he was worrying about his grandkids. The BLM picked them up, end of story. Would I have adopted them? Sure. But the BLM can't let me adopt with charges pending.
Some of the property that my family owns in Arkansas is leased to a guy to run livestock. If he runs horses with his cows I can't stop him, but I have no horses of my own in Arkansas.

"Big Sam was found eating dog food." Wow, that one is so outragous I can't believe anyone took it seriously. First of all, Dog food is way more expensive than hay, so I wouldn't want to feed it to horses! Next, our dog food is kept inside the kitchen and to my knowledge, Sam never went in the kitchen! There were stacks of feed bags in the yard, maybe there was an old dog food BAG that Sam had access to, but never dog food. All of our dogs were fed inside.

The Martin's have an agressive rottweiler." Anyone who has ever met Lucy knows the only thing she is agressive about is licking your hand. She did bite the ear off of the 4 month old foal, and we have never tried to hide that fact. (I could Have said a coyote did it, but that wasn't true.) Lucy did do that and I still don't know why. She has never bitten any animal before or since.

"The Martin's won't come back for court." We are doing everything we can to cooperate fully with the authorities. We will continue to do so.
